Mepiform plaster

Mepiform (Mepiform) is a silicone adhesive designed to treat scars (including burns) and keloid scars , as well as to prevent their occurrence in the postoperative period.

What is the Mepiform plaster?

Mepiform is a thin self-adhesive bandage made of polyurethane or synthetic linen and coated with a layer of silicone. It is produced in the form of rectangles 5x7.5, 4x30 and 10x18 cm, from which you can cut off the bandage of the required size. The patch is thin, elastic, barely visible on the skin, has a factor of protection against ultraviolet 7.7.

The exact mechanism of the action of silicone on the skin has not been thoroughly studied, but the long wearing of the Mepiform plaster helps against scars and scars on the skin, promotes their smoothing, softening and discoloration, reducing the bulge above the surface of the skin and visibility.

It can be applied both to fresh keloid scars and scars, and to treat old, strongly protruding, reddened. In addition, the patch can be applied to freshly wounded wounds, to prevent the formation of scars. On the open wounds and over the scabs the dressing is not superimposed. Plaster Mepeform is ineffective from old flat white scars.

Instructions for the use of the plaster Mepiform

Application

The plaster is pasted on clean dry skin so that it protrudes from the edges of the scar on all sides by 1.5-2 cm. When applying any medicine under the bandage, it should extend beyond the area of its application to the same distance. When attaching the adhesive, you can not pull it.

Wearing

To obtain a therapeutic effect, the Mepiform plaster is worn around the clock. Take it once a day to inspect and wash the skin, then glue back. The plaster is hygroscopic and is able to withstand a brief exposure to moisture, but taking a shower with it is not recommended. One piece of Mepiform plaster is worn for 3 to 7 days and is replaced after it ceases to stick to the skin.

Timing of treatment

The action of the Mepiform plaster is not immediate. A noticeable effect is observed after about 2 months of its continuous wearing. The full course of treatment can take from 3 to 6 months, depending on the type of skin damage. In the case of colloid scars, the treatment period is from 6 months to a year or more. Even if the scars do not completely disappear, they become less noticeable, they acquire the color of normal skin, they shrink less.

In general, the remedy is effective and harmless, although rare cases of an allergic reaction are possible. If there is itching or irritation in the area of applying the patch in the treatment, a break should be made, until the skin is normal. If there is a repeated irritation from the use of the patch it is necessary to refuse.
