To date, a vivid example of such a fine art as cinema, is the British cinema, which has won for its existence the respect and recognition of millions of viewers around the world.

As you know, representatives of British direction for a long time are famous for their unique specificity in making films. Therefore, in order to show the full diversity of styles and genres of the current films of foggy Albion, a whole festival of modern British cinema is held annually in Russia and Ukraine. This action allows you to provide the domestic audience with films of a decent level.

Festival of New British Cinema

The history of such an unusual and interesting action dates back to 2001. It was then, fifteen years ago, in Kiev cinemas for the first time a festival of new British cinema was held, which allowed the Ukrainian audience to see the brightest films of the time of the day. The aim of this project of British filmmakers was the dissemination and popularization of modern English cinema in Ukraine. Soon, after 5 years, the festival was interested in the leading film distribution company in Ukraine, Arthouse Traffic, engaged in the promotion of high-quality, new, non-commercial films of high artistic level.

As a result of cooperation with the British cinema, the festival of new British cinema began to be held in the cinemas of the largest Ukrainian cities, such as Odessa , Lviv, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Donetsk. The success did not take long, and throughout the following years, the festival of British cinema gained great popularity. Particularly deserved were the pictures of such directors as Mike Lee, Ken Loach and Roger Mitchell. In 2015, from the biographical drama "Jimmy Hendrix" in the second half of November, starts the 15th Ukrainian festival of new British cinema. It will last until the end of the year, visiting Kiev, Lviv, Odessa and other major cities. The program, in addition to the premiere, traditionally includes press conferences with well-known British filmmakers.

Meanwhile, starting from October 28, the 16th Festival of British Cinema started in Russia. For the first time cinemas at once more than twenty large cities of an immense country present the audience with modern English premieres. In the saturated program will be presented about twenty films, voiced in English, with Russian subtitles. Also, within the framework of the Russian festival of new British cinema, it is planned to hold lectures and press conferences with representatives of the British film industry dedicated to improving the development of the contemporary international film market.

In Moscow, the festival opens a documentary film "Mr. Holmes", Bill Condon, received a jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The premieres of the British Film Festival will be screened in Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Voronezh, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Saratov, Novosibirsk, Ufa, Tyumen, Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don, Irkutsk, Petropavovsk-Kamchatsky, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl and Ulyanovsk.
