Lubaantun


Lubaantun is a religious and ceremonial center of the Maya. A place that will not leave any tourist indifferent. This unique attraction is located in the center of Belize .

Feature of the ancient city

Lubaantun includes 11 main buildings and consists of three zones:

The tallest building is 11 m high.

How to get there?

Lubaantun (or City of Fallen Stones) is located in the southern part of Belize , in the Toledo district, between two rivers.

From the village of San Pedro , Colombia - 3 km. From the city of Punta Gorda - 35 km.

Public transport to Lubaantun not take! Therefore, there are the following ways to get to the ruins:

  1. Car rent. In this case, you will need an international driving license, a credit card. Mandatory age - over 25 years (requirement of some agencies - over 21 years).
  2. We reach the city of San Pedro on a ride or bus, then go on foot along the path 3 km through the jungle to the place (20 minutes).
  3. Local city taxi (with a green sign on the roof) will take you to anywhere in the city, or to the nearest towns and villages (you need to negotiate). Please note: please negotiate the price in advance. taxis do not have a counter.
  4. Canoeing on the river, then on foot.
