"Malibu" factory

Rum is a drink of the Caribbean islands. "Barbados, Tortuga, the Caribbean, rum, pirates" - the association is fairly stable. Of course, Barbados produces traditional rum, and more than 3 centuries. Some even believe that it is he who is the birthplace of this "pirate drink". But there's definitely no doubt about it - it's because Barbados is grateful to the world for the rum-containing liquor "Malibu", which was invented and manufactured here since the 1980s. And, of course, the Malibu factory in Barbados is one of the main attractions , and the liquor itself is a souvenir that almost all tourists bring from the island.

Factory: excursion and tasting

The factory is located in Bridgetown , on the coast. It has been operating since 1893 - at that time rum was produced here. Today, the Malibu liquor is produced here not only with the traditional coconut taste, but also with the taste of mango, papaya and other fruits. It annually sells more than 2,500,000 boxes.

At the factory you can see the full technological process - from processing sugar cane to getting finished products and spilling it. After the tour, tourists are offered to taste cocktails on the basis of "Malibu", and you can do it right on the beach , relaxing in a deck chair. Perhaps, this fact makes the factory even more popular for visitors.

At the factory there is a shop where you can buy finished products. However, in Barbados it is difficult to find a store where this drink is not sold, which has become the visiting card of the island. You can visit the factory from Monday to Friday from 9-00 to 15-45.

How to get there?

The factory is located on the beach of Brighton Beach, which can be reached by public transport and taxi.
