Sometimes the cause of adnexitis is mycobacterium tuberculosis, caught in the appendages of the uterus through the lymphatic and blood vessels. Distinguish acute, subacute and chronic form of the disease.
Acute adnexitis
The acute form of salpingo-oophoritis is often provoked by an infectious disease, stress, malnutrition, hypothermia, as well as abortion or other intra-uterine manipulation (eg, diagnostic scraping). Symptoms that accompany acute adnexitis:
- increase in temperature (38-39 ° C);
- the tension of the abdominal muscles (even lying down, in a relaxed position, pressing on the stomach, the patient feels hardness of the muscles);
- pain during urination and defecation (can be reflected - in the waist, in the side);
- periodic pain in the lower abdomen - acute or aching, as on the eve of menstruation;
- pain accompanying sexual intercourse;
- purulent discharge (not always);
- increase and swelling of the appendages, pain during palpation (reveals the gynecologist at the examination);
- increased level of leukocytes in the blood.
In extremely rare cases, acute adnexitis is accompanied by symptoms such as bloating, nausea, vomiting.
Chronic adnexitis
In the chronic stage, as is often the case, the disease passes from the acute form when refusing treatment. The symptoms characterizing chronic adnexitis are blurred enough, which complicates the diagnosis. During an exacerbation the patient complains:
- on the dull, aching (without sharp attacks) pain in the lower abdomen, in the lower back and sacrum;
- on violation of the menstrual cycle, abundant or vice versa very meager secretions;
- on smearing discharge between menstruation.
The disease as a whole weakens the immune system, so it is often accompanied by sleep disorders, general fatigue, irritability, headaches.
Medical treatment of adnexitis
Salpingoophoritis is a rather dangerous disease - it often becomes the cause of infertility due to the formation of adhesions and tube obstruction. For this reason, treatment of adnexitis at home is unacceptable. It is impossible to diagnose it independently: only a doctor on the basis of bacteriological research can determine which pathogen caused inflammation, and prescribe the appropriate course of drugs.
Before starting treatment for acute adnexitis, the patient is placed on the bottom of the abdomen to relieve pain. Hot water is contraindicated - it only increases pain and stimulates the inflammatory process.
Ovaries are a paired organ, respectively, the infection can hit one of them or both. Right-sided and left-side adnexitis means treatment with antibiotics, painkillers and desensitizing drugs. Physiotherapeutic procedures are also prescribed - ultrasound, electrophoresis, ultrasonic irradiation, diathermy, paraffin applications.
Treatment of adnexitis with herbs
It is recommended to combine traditional therapy and folk methods of treatment of adnexitis. To overcome the inflammatory process help:
- infusions - calendula flowers, St. John's wort, nettle, sage and yarrow (3 spoonfuls) insist in a liter thermos for 2 hours; drink three times a day;
- syringing from broth chamomile flowers - after the procedure you need to lie on your side;
- decoction of dried flowers of the viburnum (thrice a day, 1,5 spoons);
- bath - cabbage leaves boil in milk (5 min), add the mixture to the bath (at elevated temperature, the procedure is contraindicated).
