It is known that people with hypertension for a long time are at great risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, changes in the vessels of the fundus and chronic renal failure. Therefore, patients who have a persistent increase in blood pressure, shows the use of antihypertensive drugs. According to clinical studies, one of the most effective and safe drugs for pressure are tablets Lizinopril.
Indications for the use of tablets Lizinopril
The drug is recommended in the following cases:
- Arterial hypertension (as an independent therapeutic agent or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs);
- chronic heart failure (in the combined treatment of patients taking cardiac glycosides and diuretics);
- acute myocardial infarction (early treatment on the first day in patients with stable hemodynamic parameters to maintain these parameters, as well as prevention of left ventricular dysfunction and heart failure);
- diabetic nephropathy (a decrease in albuminuria in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus at normal blood pressure and in patients with type II diabetes with high blood pressure).
Composition and pharmacological action of lisinopril
The active substance of the drug acts lisinopril dihydrate. Auxiliary substances are: lactose, starch, silicon dioxide colloid, talc, magnesium stearate, etc. Lizinopril is released in tablets of 5, 10 and 20 mg.
The drug belongs to the class of inhibitors of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE inhibitors). Provides cardioprotective (corrects the functional state of the myocardium), vasodilator and natriuretic (removes sodium salts with urine) action.
Dosage of lisinopril
According to the instructions for use, lisinopril tablets are taken once a day, regardless of food intake. It is advisable to take the drug at the same time (preferably in the morning).
Dosage depends on the type of pathology and can be determined individually by the attending physician. So, with arterial hypertension, the initial daily dose, as a rule, is 10 mg, and the maintenance dose is 20 mg. The maximum dose per day should not exceed 40 mg. If taking Lisinopril at the maximum dose does not give the desired effect, it is possible to prescribe an additional medication.
Precautionary measures
Contraindications to the use of lisinopril:
- hereditary idiopathic edema, Quincke's edema ;
- angioedema in history;
- pregnancy and lactation;
- individual intolerance of the drug components.
With caution, the drug is prescribed in the following cases:
- cardiac ischemia;
- coronary insufficiency;
- cerebrovascular diseases;
- collagenoses (including systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma);
- hyperkalemia or an increased risk of its occurrence (with diabetes, simultaneous use of diuretics, severe renal failure);
- hyponatremia or sodium restriction in the diet;
- hyperuricemia;
- transplanted kidney transplantation;
- old age, etc.
Side effects of lisinopril:
- headache, dizziness;
- sleep disorders;
- tachycardia;
- cardiac arrhythmia;
- hypotension;
- reduction of hemoglobin and hematocrit;
- cough;
- nausea, vomiting;
- diarrhea;
- impaired renal function;
- skin rash, etc.
During treatment with lisinopril should periodically monitor liver function, potassium and other electrolytes in the blood serum, clinical blood.
