The decorative tree of the palm family - Liviston (not to be confused with the palm of washingtonia ) is a fan plant with glossy green leaves growing on long petioles. It can be grown both at home and at the cottage (in the summer). Plant liviston perennial, grows quickly enough and actively. The palm tree blooms only in a natural environment or in a greenhouse, but in room conditions it is very difficult to make Liviston blossom.
Features of care for livistone
At home, the care of the Livistonian palm is simple and consists of the following:
- accommodation : choose the palest place for a palm tree, and in the summer, take it outside. It is recommended to rotate the plant periodically to the sun for uniform development of the crown;
- temperature : in winter Liviston requires a temperature of 14-16 ° C, in summer it is optimally 20-22 ° C;
- watering : livistona loves moisture, water it followed by warm water (20-21 ° C), which is then drained from the pan. Do not forget to spray the plant and periodically shower it;
- fertilizer : as the palm grows intensively, from March to October it needs a weekly feeding. Otherwise, its leaves may turn yellow, and growth - slow down;
- transplantation : it should be done in spring every 3-5 years, when you notice that the roots have become too crowded. Livistone requires good drainage.
In nature there are 36 species of Livistones, the most popular of which are Liviston round-leaved, Chinese, southern, rotundifolia, care of which is almost the same.
