Liqueur of mulberry - recipe

The scheme for the preparation of most berry liquors boils down to a couple of simple steps: to break the integrity of the berries, pour them with alcohol and leave the mixture for a couple of weeks, or even months, so that the alcohol absorbs the berry taste.

Preparation

With a fork, lightly mash the berries and fill them with brandy. For proofing, choose a small container so that the drink just reaches the "shoulders". Close the future liqueur with a lid and leave in the cool for 2 months. During this time, the container with liqueur should be shaken every 2 weeks. A ready drink for transparency is passed through a coffee or cotton-gauze filter.

Now it is necessary to sweeten the liqueur, for this we make syrup from water, sugar, lemon juice and zest. As soon as the syrup bubbles, remove it from the fire, cool it, pour it into the liqueur and mix it. A mulberry liqueur cooked at home is already quite tasty, but you'll have to wait another month for it to finally ripen.

The same recipe is applicable to the preparation of liquor from white mulberry. The latter differs from its counterpart not only in color, but also in taste: white berries are sweeter than black, and so the syrup in the liquor should be added with care, following their taste preferences.
