LED aquarium lighting with their own hands

Do not spend money on expensive lighting devices. You can do everything with your own hands.

Aquarium diode lighting: preparation and raw materials

You will need a minimum of supplies and skills. The basis is a ribbon of 3M LEDs, in which there are 12 diodes. The required voltage is 12 volts. It is important that the light elements are in a waterproof environment. With this, the plastic bulb from the Makita borax will perfectly handle. In order for the system to function, you need a power source, for example, a 6-12 volt power supply. As a result we get a dual-mode lighting with a power connector of 12 volts "dad". Requires a 12 volt connector of the MD1621 "mother". To design and fix all the elements you need an awl, a soldering iron, a knife and silicone.

The LED strip and the bulb are as follows:

We chose an ATAVA power supply, which switches from 6 to 12 volts.

The power supply connector should look like this:

The power supply connector will be connected to the female connector.

Now you can proceed with the installation.

LED Aquarium Lighting

Even if you are not too friendly with electrical appliances, aquarium lighting with LEDs is extremely easy to install. You will definitely cope!

  1. Tinned ends are pressed with screws.
  2. Two more wires are prepared for soldering with the "outlets" of the diode base.
  3. In the cork of the protective shell (bulb), screw through the hole with an awl.
  4. Prepare the wire through a plastic flask.

  5. Then solder its contacts to the tape.
  6. Take the silicone and handle the edges of the lid , this is for tightness.
  7. Open the adhesive tape on the back of the LED strip.

The circular section of the bulb does not allow you to attach the tape directly to the plastic walls, so use several trimmed self-adhesive noise insulation.

We put everything in the flask.

Close the lids on both sides and process with silicone.

Here's what we get when the mode is 12 and 6 volts respectively.

We fix the system on the walls of the aquarium. We get a simple installation, but effective lighting in practice.
