The presented local medicine is a mixture of medical Vaseline and ichthyol (in different concentrations). The active substance is a salt of natural shale oil with pronounced antiseptic, bactericidal and analgesic properties.

The method of application of ichthyol ointment consists in 2-3-times application of the mixture on the affected skin with a thin layer, without rubbing. After treatment, it is necessary to cover the epidermis with a gauze dressing and change the compress on demand. In some cases, usually with dermatitis of various etiologies, it is shown to rub a special solution of glycerol and ointment (10%) until completely absorbed.

The same mixture is used for the therapy of gynecological pathologies. In the solution, you need to moisten the cotton swab and insert it into the rectum after a preliminary cleansing (naturally or by enema). It is recommended to repeat the procedure 1-3 times a day.

The use of ichthyol ointment for abscesses, boils and hydradenitis

Application of ichthyol ointment in hemorrhoids

The drug in question is most effective for external hemorrhoids, as it provides rapid analgesia, elimination of puffiness.

Apply ointment 3-5 times a day directly on the inflamed knot, do not rub and cover with a soft cloth, it is better - with a wadded disk. To change such compresses it is necessary not more often than once in 4 hours.
