Growing bonsai from seeds
For this purpose, you can use the same planting material as for conventional breeding. The creation of bonsai is recommended to deal with the seeds of maple or pine , but you can also take juniper, birch, apple and others. The main condition for selection is compatibility with the local climate. For indoor bonsai, ficus , wisteria, and albi are most often used.

How to grow bonsai from seeds?
Stage 1 - Preparation
It consists in the selection of capacity, disinfection of soil mixtures and stratification of seeds. Pot is best to take clay, shallow, but wide, always with drainage holes. The soil is made from two parts of humus and one part of sand. It must be disinfected by taking a few minutes over the steam. After that, dry and sift.
For planting, fresh seeds should be taken. To accelerate their germination, you can pierce or incise the upper skin, and also fit in warm water for 24 hours.
2 stage - Landing
The most favorable periods for planting are spring and late summer. We do this:
- Fill the pot with a prepared mixture of ¾.
- Large seeds are laid out one at a time, and small seeds are sown.
- On top, sprinkle them with a thin layer of soil and tamp it, pressing it with a spatula.
- Cover with white paper and water.
- cover with a transparent glass.
- We put in a pot in a warm place (+ 20-25 ° C), without getting direct rays of the sun and waiting for germination.
- After the appearance of the shoots, we remove the glass, and after the stems get stronger (approximately in the spring) the seedlings are transplanted.
After 2 years, the tree can be cut to form its shape. As a result, in 4-5 years you will have a wonderful bonsai.
