Gates with their own hands

To make entrance gates by own hands quite under force to everyone. For the manufacture of simple swing gates from the profiled sheet it will take several days, at the same time you will save money and then you will be able to boast that you have built a fence with your own hands, especially if it is an unusual gate with interesting decorative elements.

Why exactly profiled?

From a rich assortment of building materials that are used to make the gate, most often with individual construction preference is given to the proflist. This is facilitated by such factors as strength, durability, accessibility, decorativeness.

At the factory, the corrugated sheet is made of steel sheet, coated on both sides with a protective layer of galvanizing, which protects the metal from corrosion and destruction. For more decorative and additional protection, the top layer is covered with polymer paint of any color.

The construction obtained from this material turns out to be strong and durable, while it has a low weight. Such gates do not need painting and special care. You are free to choose the color and texture of the sheets to adequately decorate the adjacent territory.

Entrance gates to the dacha from the proflist

The work on the construction of the gate must begin with the installation of support poles. They can be built from a wooden beam, a solid round log, a channel beam or a profile pipe.

After you have decided on the material for the pillars, you need to prepare pits for them. Their depth should be at least a third of the height of the elevated part of the pillars. Digging holes can be a normal shovel or use a garden drill.

Remember that the stability of the gate will directly depend on the strength of the pillars. If you have chosen a channel beam or a profile pipe, you need to drill pits 1.2 m deep and 20-50 cm in diameter. We lower the prepared poles into these pits, set them on the level and fill them with cement mortar.

The next stage in the manufacture of metal gates with their own hands will be welding to the gate posts for transverse fence pipes with a section of 40x15 mm. It is on them that we will strengthen the profilists.

The frame for the gate must be made of the same material as the supporting pillars. In our case - from metal. Gather the frame of the gate on a level platform, in the process using precise measuring instruments, for example - a gon, so that the corners are even. Rectangular frame is further strengthened with steel corners. The long sides of the frame are strengthened by additional bridges.

Pre-welded to the size of the opening of the gate first try on. To do this, at the height of the fastening of the gate we lay the board and level it on the level. Then, on the level, we expose the gates themselves and tie them to the posts with strong ropes.

We clean the places of welding the hinges from the paint on the gates and on the poles. Before starting welding, we fix the gate with an additional pipe from above and tie it to the posts. When the gate is securely attached, you can weld the hinges.

The loops are welded parallel to the column. First, just grab the hinges. We try to open and close the gate, and if everything is fine, we weld the hinges to the poles and the gate.

We remove all unnecessary structures under and above the gate - they are now firmly fixed and open almost 180 °.

We paint the supporting poles and the frame of the future gates with anti-corrosion paint and let them dry.

We weld over each top loop of the corners, so that the gate can not be removed.

From below we weld the sites for fixing the bolts.

It only remains to attach the corrugated board to the frame. In the loops we make cutouts. We attach the profiled sheets to the screws - welding can not be used.

That's what the final result of working on the gate looks like.
