Gamla Linkoping


In the Swedish city of Linköping there is an unusual place - the open-air ethnographic museum (skansen) of Gamla Linköping. Translated from Swedish, its name sounds like Old Linköping. It is located in the urban area of ​​Ostergotland.

Historical reference

The idea of ​​creating an ethnographic museum arose in the middle of the last century, when in the center of the city it was decided to demolish old buildings and build new modern buildings in their place. But the Swedish politician Lennart Sjöberg was concerned about the massive demolition of buildings. They put forward the idea of ​​creating in this area a scan, thanks to which the architectural heritage of the region will be preserved.

The Gamla Linköping Museum was decided to organize on the ground, which previously belonged to the Valla farm. The first building, which was installed on the territory of the museum, was the farm Huitfeltska. Later, in the sixties of the last century, other buildings were moved here, placing them according to the plan of the city center. The oldest house of the museum was built in 1660.
