Fibrogastroskopija a stomach is an endoscopic method of research of an esophagus, a stomach and a duodenum. Most of those who turn to the endocrinologist with complaints, have to undergo this study. Fibrogastroskopy can be called an internal analysis, because with the help of a special device the esophagus is examined from the inside, which allows to establish the correct diagnosis.
How is fibrogastroscopy done?

How to prepare for fibrogastroscopy of the stomach?
Fibrogastroscopy of the stomach requires some preparation, since the esophagus is being examined. First of all, it is impossible to eat 15-18 hours before the procedure, as the remnants of food will interfere with the examination of the walls of the stomach, and also take the material with forceps. In order to prevent a gag reflex and protect the patient from discomfort, immediately before the test, an anesthetic is injected into the oral cavity in the form of an aerosol, which should fall into the pharynx and onto the root of the tongue. A few minutes later the patient is given a mouthpiece, which also helps to reduce discomfort. After that, the tube is already inserted.
Contraindications to fibrogastroscopy
The method of research is quite common, while it has some contraindications, which should be taken into account by the attending physician:
- acute inflammatory diseases of the mouth or pharynx;
- acute myocardial infarction;
- stroke ;
- mental disorders.
These diseases complicate the analysis or make it ineffective, therefore, in the presence of these contraindications resort to other methods of research.
