Decoupage boxes transform them into beautiful interior items in which it is convenient to store cosmetic accessories, small toilet items (barrettes, combs, brooches, etc.), various receipts, chargers, etc. This is especially important if you have furniture in the room with open shelves. You will need:
- a box from under the shoes (preferably without gloss);
- napkins with a pattern three-layered;
- acrylic paints;
- adhesive for decoupage;
- soft new sponge;
- soft brush for varnishing;
- a rigid brush for gluing;
- acrylic lacquer.
Before we get to work, we'll select the motive. We try to take into account the dimensions of the box when choosing napkins for decoupage: for large boxes we select a large pattern, for small ones we select small elements.
Decoupage boxes with napkins
1. If the box has a glossy surface, we need to remove the gloss with a fine sandpaper. We carefully remove the small pieces, brush the dust. If the box is made of ordinary cardboard, then this operation is not needed.
2. Acrylic white paint cover the entire outer part of the box with a sponge, trying to paint evenly. Let the paint dry well.
3. Brush the napkin, taking into account the following:
- for the sticker, only the upper ink layer of the napkin is used;
- under the napkin, glue is not applied, glue a dry napkin with a brush moistened with glue;
- To glue it is necessary to begin with edge, holding a napkin a hand from other edge and spreading a glue brush by wide smears on a surface.
If you do not have glue for decoupage, you can use acrylic lacquer.
4. Fragments of the picture are glued not only to the lid, but also to the side parts of the box. Let the box dry. Acrylic varnish we fix the pattern, applying it in several layers. If the acrylic lacquer is glossy, then the product will be shiny, the matte lacquer will give the work a vintage character. Layers of varnish must be calculated correctly, checking after the overlay of the next layer and drying, whether the box is well closed.
5. We decorate the inside of the box, covering with napkins, covering with acrylic paint and spreading with a cloth. Inside, you can put delimiters to form smaller cells.
