Clematis in the garden

For a beautiful flower garden, correct planting and care of clematis are very important. Watering the plant is quite rare. Pour a flower well twice a year, then even in extreme heat you do not have to worry about the plant.

The flower itself loves the sun, but the root system needs partial shade. Ideally, at the foot, ground cover plants should be planted. If you did not, then be sure to wallow everything. It is allowed to plant clematis on lawns. In this case, the root system will save the carpet from the grass from the heat.

The plant is sufficiently frost-resistant, but it is necessary to cover it. For a short cropped plant, shelter is suitable with the help of plant soil or mulch. In other cases, an air-dry shelter is necessary.

Clematis breeding

Multiplication Clematis can be done in several ways: by seeds, taps, cuttings or by dividing a bush. The seed method is rather laborious and long. If you planted seeds, they can germinate only next summer. It is useful to water the crops every two to three weeks with a solution of boric acid.

If you decide to multiply with the help of taps, then you need to pick up an escape length of 20-30 cm, always young. It is bent to the ground and laid in a groove 10 cm deep. We pour all the earth, leaving only the top with a pair of sheets. Regularly and abundantly water the landing site.

For propagation cuttings are selected from the middle part of the vine with a pair of internodes before flowering. Top of the node left a couple of centimeters, from the bottom 2-3. To accelerate the rooting process cuttings are placed for 24 hours in a solution of heteroauxin. A liter of water accounts for 50 grams preparation.

Clematis trimming

One of the secrets, how to grow clematis on everyone's envy, is proper pruning. There are three clipping groups. The first group of plants does not need pruning at all. You can only remove broken or frozen branches. To this type are the varieties blooming on last year's shoots. These are small-flowered clematis, they are also called princes.

The second group is cut to half or a third of the height. Such pruning is necessary for varieties that first bloom on last year's shoots, and then on new ones. These include Clematis groups Patientes and Florida.

The third group is cut almost completely. Leave only 10-15 cm from the ground. This pruning is intended for varieties blooming only on new shoots of the current year. These are clematis groups of Jacquemann, Viticella, or Integgrifolia.
