Exactly ten centuries ago, carrots "came" to Europe - today, we must admit, we were subdued, because there is no landlady who does without this root crop. And yet, the way to Europe was not easy. First, the ancient Greeks unknowingly ate only to pour carrots (we will not take them from examples), then, by some miracle, the ancient Romans thought of "extracting" root crops from the ground - good, the taste of carrots was approved, and since that time it began active popularization.
Carrots are loved by both children and adults. And in this case, the more prudent are the children - the percentage of children worshiping carrot and apple juice is much higher than in adults.
It turns out that the lips of the "baby" really verbally true - after all, carrots have a lot of useful properties.
Composition of carrots
The mysteries of carrots and its beneficial properties are in the composition. For example, the first thing that we associate with this root crop is carotene (the substance got its name due to the English word carrot, which means carrots). Carotene - a substance contained in vegetables and fruits, which eventually is transformed into our body in vitamin A.
Thus, the first useful property of carrots is the very high content of provitamin A. They even treat the deficiency of this vitamin, and after eating carrots you can earn a real surplus of carotene with the corresponding consequences. - improves eyesight, skin condition;
- is an antioxidant and prevents aging of the body.
In order for noble carotene to be absorbed, carrots should be consumed with something greasy, vitamin is fat-soluble. As for the other useful properties of carrots:
- vitamin C, PP, K, E, B;
- iron, potassium, phosphorus, iodine, copper, fluorine, chromium, zinc, magnesium , nickel.
All this makes carrots an ideal remedy for beriberi all year round, because, among other things, the vegetable is also well kept and more than available at any time.
Contraindications
Useful properties of carrots are conditional and contraindications, because the large content of biologically active substances in combination with our carelessness - this is already dangerous.
First, carrots really can not be abused, otherwise learn by example, carotene poisoning - vomiting, "rusty" skin, rashes, fever, nausea.
Secondly, carrots can not be used in diseases of the liver, thyroid and diabetes. The first two cases are associated with a lack of resources in the body for processing carotene into vitamin A, again intoxication is obtained. The third is associated with a high carbohydrate content in carrots.
