So, it's best to fill small stained-glass windows or draw pictures on a flat surface or make small details of sculptures and hand-made articles from it. Coarse-grained clay is also suitable for these purposes, but it will be inconvenient if it becomes necessary to work out small details.

Coarse-grained plasticine is best for children aged 2 to 3 years, as small items of crafts are not yet on their shoulder. The reusable ball clay is not hardening. It does not stick to surfaces and clothes and is more suitable for work on flat surfaces or for modeling small figures. The congealing ball clay dries up during the day.

How to sculpt from ball clay?

Before sculpting from ball clay, it must be prepared. To do this, all the balls must be thoroughly mixed with the adhesive, bringing the mass to uniformity. Some manufacturers sell plasticine ready for work immediately.

Molding from ball clay is very simple. You need to connect the balls together, giving them the right shape. If very small details are needed, the plasticine balls are pinched one at a time and attached to the main figure in the right place.

How to work with ball clay?

Sometimes in the work with ball clay there are difficulties, but there are several tricks that will help in mastering this material.

  1. If the clay is too dry and the balls are badly glued together, it can be slightly drizzled with water. The adhesion of plasticine will increase.
  2. Volumetric figurines of ball clay are difficult to do, they usually do not keep in shape. To do this, when making figures, basics are used, for example, light plastic balls, eggs, or ordinary paper, crumpled in the desired form. Basics are pasted with a thin layer of plasticine, and a sculpture is produced.
  3. To play with already ready figures, even from a solidifying ball clay it is not necessary. They are fragile.

How to make an article from ball clay?

To make a figurine from ball-clay, we need paper, scotch tape, ball clay and ordinary clay. For the first time with a child it's better to sculpt simple figures. We will sculpt a duck.

  1. From paper rolls the trunk and the head of the future duck. To keep the paper better in shape, fix the edges with adhesive tape.
  2. We encase the head and trunk with ball clay, attach them to each other. And the usual plasticine we make paws, beak, eyes and also attach them to the dent.
  3. The finishing touch will be the wings of the duck, made of ordinary plasticine. The duck is ready!

  1. Putting a picture on the table with contours, knead clay.
