Why do pregnant women have toxicosis?

The onset of pregnancy of a woman is often determined by her state of health. So, nausea, vomiting, weakness, weight loss, irritability are frequent signs of conception. It is these symptoms that are accompanied by toxicosis in pregnant women. But not all women feel malaise during pregnancy. If there is no toxicosis, it means that the future mother has good health and her body easily adjusted to a new condition. But more often during the development of the fetus, it is present. In the article we will find out why there is toxicosis in pregnant women. So far, there is no exact answer to this question. But some reasons are known. Let us consider them below.

Causes of Toxicosis

  1. Changes in the hormonal system of the female body. In the first hours after fertilization, there are sharp changes in the composition of hormones. During this period, the woman's state of health worsens, her body still perceives the embryo as a foreign body, which you need to get rid of. This explains why pregnant women have toxicosis in the first trimester. Accordingly, by the second trimester, the level of hormones becomes stable, the body of the expectant mother is taking the fruit, and the woman does not already worry about the toxemia.
  2. Response to foods and substances that can harm the health of women and babies. In this case, the future mother has unpleasant symptoms, like a reaction to cigarette smoke, perfume, coffee, eggs, meat. These products contain pathogenic microorganisms, so they can be hazardous to health.
  3. Formation of the placenta. In the first trimester, until placental development is completed, the female body independently solves the problem of intoxication. When the placenta completes its formation, it will detain toxic substances. Then the body of a woman will stop experiencing toxicosis.
  4. Untreated diseases. Chronic diseases and infections lead to a decrease in the immunity of the female body. This is a common reason why there is toxicosis in pregnant women.
  5. The age factor. If a woman becomes pregnant after 30 years and this is the first conception, then, of course, she tolerates symptoms of toxicosis worse.
  6. Multiple pregnancy. Women who carry two or more children are more likely to suffer from late toxicosis.
  7. Emotional factor. This is a common reason why pregnant women have severe toxicosis. During gestation of the fetus, the nervous system of the woman becomes vulnerable, the centers of the brain are activated, which are responsible for the work of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, if the expectant mother is nervous, not enough sleep, irritated, then she experiences symptoms of toxicosis. This also explains why malaise appears late in women who did not plan a pregnancy.

Considering why pregnant women have toxicosis, we want to warn future mothers that toxicosis at the end of the term is unsafe. Therefore, if you are concerned about uncomfortable symptoms and malaise in the last trimester, consult a doctor immediately.
