What kind of blood pressure should children have?
For simplicity of determination, both in children and adults, physicians have long developed a table, having studied which, it is easy to determine the pressure indicators, which are the norm.
I would like to say a few words about the parameters of systolic and diastolic pressure. The first, or the upper, speaks of the maximum contraction of the cardiac muscle with the release of blood, and the second or lower, indicates pressure on the vessel walls, when the heart is in the most relaxed state.
Pressure, for example, in a five-year-old child, should be as indicated in the table, although depending on age, diet, body build and height, slight variations may be allowed. During life, it gradually increases, and the lowest is observed in newborns. In full or tall children, the pressure is higher than that of their peers with a smaller height and a more lean physique.
How to calculate pressure values yourself?
If there is no confidence in the table, then it is possible to determine the pressure, for example, in a ten-year-old child, according to the formula of I.M. Voronina:
- 90 + 2х - for the upper;
- 60 + x - for the bottom, where x is the age figure in years.
Accordingly, having made the calculation, it turns out: 90 + 2х10 = 110, 60 + 10 = 70. 110/70 - the norm of pressure for a child of ten years of age. This formula is suitable for aunts from 6 to 16 years. Therefore, if there is a question about what kind of pressure should be, for example, in a teenage child at age 13, it will not be difficult to make a calculation.
For the young couple from 2 to 5 years, the calculation is the same, only for upper pressure age is added to 96. So, to determine what pressure should be in a three-year-old child, it is possible so: 96 + 2х3 = 102, 60 + 3 = 63.
For very young children who have not yet reached the age of one year, the calculation is made by the formula:
- 76 + 2x - for systolic, where x is the age of the youngster in months;
- 2 / 3-1 / 2 of the systolic pressure is the norm of diastolic pressure.
So, to determine whether the measured pressure falls within the limits of the norm is not at all difficult. And if there are small deviations, consult a doctor, perhaps in the case of your child - this is the norm.
