What is the difference between a laminate and a parquet board?

Repair work with a certain regularity is done both in apartments and in private houses. And if the decoration of the ceiling and walls are changed about once every five years, then the floor covering can last much longer. Therefore, it is so important to pay special attention to the choice of material for the floor. Today, one of the most demanded flooring is parquet and laminate. Let's find out how the laminate differs from the parquet board.

Laminate and parquet board - what's the difference?

Laminate and parquet board have a common similarity - their multi-layered structure. Laminate consists of four, and sometimes five layers of material. Simply put, this coating is a wallpaper that is attached to a sheet of dvp and is topped with a transparent resin. The board for parquet has a three-layer structure. The two lower layers are made of cheap pine or spruce, and the top layer is a high quality wood veneer.

The pattern on all lamellas of the laminate under the tree is almost identical, which can not be said about the parquet board: it is impossible to find two identical boards, similar in design.

Another difference between a parquet board and a laminate is that the wood floor can be easily scratched, and the legs of heavy furniture can leave visible marks on it. Laminate is more durable and resistant to abrasion. However, the laminate floor is cold, noisy and static. To get rid of such shortcomings, this material is used with a warm floor, a substrate and a special antistatic agent.

Both of these flooring materials do not like excessive moisture on the floor. But when caring for parquet, you can and should use special tools for wooden surfaces, which should not be done on the floor of the laminate.

In comparison with laminate flooring from a parquet board, it will last much longer and is explained by the fact that the parquet can be grinded several times, thus restoring its original appearance. Laminate is not subject to this update.

You have seen the similarities and differences between the two floor coverings, so it's up to you to choose which parquet board or laminate flooring.
