Wall painting by own hands

What can make your home even more unique, like not hand-made painting? Decorating your house without the help of professionals is not as difficult as you think, but minimal creative skills must still be present. To test your skills, make a couple of sketches on a piece of cardboard before moving directly to painting the walls.

How to prepare a wall for painting?

Have you chosen the central place for your masterpiece? Let's figure out how to prepare the wall for the painting. First, clean the surface of any defects and old coating. Smooth a wall with acetone, or a special primer, and then level it with putty or plaster. The ground area is grounded to strengthen the adhesion between the wall and the paint, and paint the "background" color you like.

Paints for wall painting

The wall is ready, the head is full of ideas, which means it's time to pick up the colors for wall painting. Among all the variety of modern choice, professional artists prefer acrylic water-dispersive paints for painting walls. Usually they are sold in sets, but more often everyone buys a palette of yellow, green and brown colors, as their mixing gives as a result all natural shades. Do not forget about the white paint - it allows you to create all the necessary color transitions and disguise blunders in your work.

Painting walls with acrylic is performed by brushes with artificial nap or foam rubber. The width of both depends on the required width of the smear.

Technique of wall painting

The technique of wall painting depends on the paint you work with. By choosing acrylic, you can create effects of different colors by diluting it with water: a strong dilution will make acrylic more transparent, which is typical for watercolors, and thick and undiluted acrylic will give a gouache texture. You can draw by hand, or with a stencil. The technology of wall painting also depends on the paint and the desired effect: the damp wall is applied to the paint for greater absorption, as is done in the "fresco" technology, but more often manual or stenciled painting on a dry surface is used.

Master-class "Wall painting"

Wall painting with your own hands will take several hours, and its result will please you for years, so for example, we present to your attention the master class "Wall painting" - draw a dandelion!

For the painting we will need:

  1. At the first stage, we draw a sketch of a dandelion on the wall with the help of chalk, or a pencil.
  2. We begin the drawing with the drawing of the stem. At this stage, use a bevelled brush.
  3. Then we take a round or contour brush and draw the "head" of the dandelion. Bring the brush straight, from the center to the periphery, without pressing it.
  4. We pass to the drawing of the seeds scattered along the wind. Lightly dip a round brush into the paint and press a little, drawing each seed. Arrange points randomly, at different distances and at different angles.
  5. Take a contour brush and draw as thin lines as possible from each seed - these bands play the role of small stems.
  6. We attach the downy crochet to each "floating" seed and to the seeds, which still keep at the stem.
  7. We continue until we fill the entire flower.
  8. The finishing touch is 2 leaves under the head of the dandelion, we draw them with the help of a round brush: pressing slightly, we deduce the S-form.
  9. Step aside and admire the result. Eliminate the shortcomings, if any, and cover your work with a matte finish.
