How to remove the stretch ceiling?
Before you begin to dismantle vinyl ceiling, you need to collect the necessary tools, namely:
- putty knife;
- pliers with round edges;
- ladder;
- fan heater (heat gun).
After the necessary tools are assembled, you can begin to dismantle the stretch ceiling with your own hands. The film will be removed in stages:
- Room heating . Using a fan heater, warm up the room to 40 degrees. Thanks to this, the film will become soft and supple and it will be possible to work with it. If you start to remove the stretch ceiling without preheating, the film is easily damaged.
- Inspection joints . Using the stairs, inspect the ceiling decorative insert, which fixes the film. Find the junctions of the inserts. Remove the plugs and remove the decorative rubber insert.
- Remove the film . Classical rectangular designs should be started from the corner. It is very important to avoid sudden movements and jerks, otherwise scratches and holes can form on the film. As you progress in the process of removing the film, move both the fan heater (for this you will need a partner).
In the event that you are flooded by neighbors, you will need to remove only a portion of the film in order to drain the accumulated liquid. Before removing the side of the stretch ceiling , substitute a bucket or other deep container in which water will be collected. After draining, dry the ceiling with a heat gun and insert the back sheet.
