Underwater world of Kelly Tarleton

In 1985, a scuba diver and explorer of the seas from New Zealand , named Tarlton, built an unusual aquarium, which eventually became known as the Underwater World of Kelly Tarleton.

A non-standard solution of the author to design aquariums in large waste tanks, which were never used for their intended purpose, was a huge success, with time they were enriched with acrylic.

"Underwater world of Kelly Tarleton" is a kind of pioneer, as during its construction for the first time used special inspection tunnels and conveyor belt, which slowly moves visitors from one pool to another.

Surprisingly, this grandiose structure was built in just 10 months. The author of the project was Kelly Tarleton himself, who thought out all the details. For example, open tanks and aquariums cover the purest acrylic. Refracted light, penetrating through it, reduces sea inhabitants in three times.

Impressive are the dimensions of the aquarium tunnel. Its length reaches 110 meters. Of course, in such a large space there must be many inhabitants. "Underwater world of Kelly Tarlton" sheltered about 2000 creatures, among which several species of sharks.

For maximum comfort of marine creatures, caves and reefs simulating natural conditions are recreated.

In 1994, a new department was opened in the center - " Collision with Antarctica ", where animals from Antarctica are represented, as well as an exposition on the study of the cold continent.

In another part of Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World, the Sea Creatures exposition is located. These are numerous aquariums inhabited by inhabitants of rivers and seas.

An unusual aquarium receives millions of visitors from around the world all year round.

"Underwater World" operates daily from 09:30 to 17:30 hours. Visits are paid. Admission price for adults is $ 39, students and pensioners (if available) - $ 30, children aged 3 to 15 years - $ 22.
