Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

Sometimes it seems that there is some kind of injustice in the fact that one country owns any riches, attractions or monuments in an amount much larger than neighboring and other states. But if we are talking about Australia , then it's great that for a decade now the authorities of the country have been doing a lot of efforts to preserve as much as possible all that nature created millions of years ago. In this country there is simply a huge number of reserves and parks of different levels, such as the National Park "Uluru-Kata Tjuta".

The Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is located in the northern part of Australia, in the so-called Northern Territory. Geographically to the north of the park is the city of Darwin (distance 1431 km), and 440 km to the north-east - the city of Alice Springs . The total area of the park is 1326 sq. Km. The Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is very important for its country: in 1977 it was included in the world network of biosphere reserves, and since 1987 is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

What is interesting about the reserve?

The word park is badly associated with the real landscape of the protected area - the desert. The characteristic color of the rocks is red, geologists believe that this is due to the presence of iron oxide in the rock composition. By the way, Uluru rocks and Kata Tjuta mountain are two hills of one formation. According to the data of geological prospecting, they were formed at one time in the form of a large mountain range, but here it comes to the surface so far only with these two heights.

All the beauty of the plant world can be observed in winter and after the rainy season: during this period, the time of flowering of the entire green variety comes. In the National Park "Uluru-Kata Tjuta" almost all kinds of flora grow, filling Central Australia. Together with the animals they meet, they create a real unified biological cycle. It is interesting that some species of plants and animals by native Aborigines are still used in the form of medicines or food.

Please note that the behavior and appearance of tourists must strictly comply with local regulations: serious financial penalties are imposed for its violation.

How to get to the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park?

Since even in the second half of the 20th century red rocks attracted hundreds of thousands of tourists, since 1975, 15 kilometers from Uluru, there was a real resort Yulara with all the benefits of civilization, and near it - the airport. Here you can fly from almost any major city in Australia. In Yular, you can rent a nice room in the hotel, visit restaurants and cafes, take a dip in the pool and rent a car or buy tickets in a group tour.

The park has several official routes. Thanks to which you can see all rock formations and local landscapes on the most favorable side. For example, the route "Main path" acquaints you with the rock Ulira, but local aborigines consider sacrilege to climb the mountain itself, t.ch. having a desire, you have to do it yourself, there is a path. And the path "Valley of the Winds" leads only to the Kata Tjuta mountain, here two good viewing platforms are built. At the entrance to the park in the cultural center you can buy souvenirs made by Aborigines by hand, and get acquainted with their culture, history and traditions.
