About attractions

Old Slavic languages know the word "tyn" as a fence. In this context, the truth is not so far away, because in Prague this concept denotes a courtyard located just behind the Old Town Square , also known as Ungelt. Its origin is attributed to the XI century and is closely associated with merchants-traders and tax collection.

Tyn is located between two churches, the Virgin Mary and St. Yakub, on the north side is Tynska Street, and the southern one goes to Stupartskaya Street. The entire territory of the courtyard in due time underwent careful restoration and reconstruction, and decorates its sculptural composition of the authorship of Jan Stursa.

Among all the buildings included in the space of the Tyn yard, the Granovsky Palace is most popular. The building is designed in the classical Renaissance style: it is decorated with arcade loggias, refined wall murals and drawings on themes of Greek mythology and biblical plots. Against the backdrop of these details, Tyn's photos turn out to be extremely interesting and colorful.
