Topiary of chestnuts

If autumn has not passed without a trace for you, and you have stocked up with natural materials, then it will be very easy to pass the evenings. Handicraft will help in this. Ordinary chestnuts, which in August-September literally lie under their feet, are an excellent material for the manufacture of a variety of handicrafts. Firstly, you easily solve the eternal problem that torments all mothers on the eve of the autumn holiday in the kindergarten. Children's crafts made of chestnuts are made so easily that your child will gladly join creativity, and in the garden will proudly show the results of teamwork. But children's handicrafts should not be limited! Having in stock a dozen two nuts (namely the fruits of this representative of the Bukov family in botany), you can effortlessly create your own original chestnut products, including a chestnut tree, which can become both an element of the interior decor and a gift to a close person.

Step by step

A lot of master classes on making crafts made of such natural material as chestnuts have been created. However, the technology of their creation is largely similar. Thus, the topiary of chestnuts is a ball fixed on the trunk and decorated with fruits, which is placed in a pot with a solid filler.

The basis of a tree from chestnuts is a ball. For its manufacture, you can use any materials that can be given a round shape and for which it is possible to glue chestnuts. However, the best option is the usual newspaper. It's enough to crush them, giving them the shape of a ball, and wrap them in threads. To make the ball dense, you should lightly glaze it with glue. In addition, with the help of glue you can hide the sticking pieces of newspaper.

Next, the ball should be placed on the trunk, in the role of which can be any wooden, plastic or even a paper stick. Scissors in the ball is a small incision to plant it on the barrel. Then a plaster solution is poured into the chosen container (plastic, glass or ceramic pot), and when it starts to set, a tree is inserted. At the same time, it needs support before the gypsum solution solidifies completely. If your pot is not quite attractive, decorate it, for example, with decorative twine.

It's time to start applying chestnuts. It's better if your chestnuts are not round, but slightly flattened. This will facilitate the gluing process. In addition, they will not be too bulging on the crown. With the help of a glue gun, from the top of the crown, glue chestnuts. No matter how hard you try, there will still be gaps between them, through which the newspaper shines through. To get rid of this deficiency will help ordinary tea or sisal. The same materials can decorate the surface of gypsum in a pot.

Interesting ideas

The topiary tree from chestnuts can be not only beautiful, but also fragrant. For this, the intervals between chestnuts can be filled with aromatic herbs or spices, ground with vanilla sticks or tea with additives. To the fragrant decor does not crumble, it is worth a little sprinkle it with hairspray (odorless!).

Crown trees can decorate and bows, and decorative butterflies, bugs, and sparkles - everything that prompts imagination! The same applies to decorating the pot.

Unfortunately, chestnuts are not an eternal material. Dry air in the apartment leads to the fact that they dry up, lose shape, are covered with cracks. To prolong the life of the hand-made, be sure to collect the chestnuts and keep them in a cool place. Due to this they will dry slowly and naturally, and you can make interesting crafts from them.
