Stone Rose

The plant really looks very much like a frozen rose. This succulent harmoniously fits into the Alpine hills, it is grown at home and creates compositions in glass vases.

Stone rose - care

In the distant Middle Ages there were even signs connected with a flower by a stone rose. For example, plants were planted on the roofs of houses. It was believed that this is a reliable protection from lightning. Today, of course, this way, lightning is not protected, but to grow a stone rose at home continue. Cultivate this succulent, like all the rest, is simple and therefore it is considered unpretentious.

  1. Succulent stone rose loves sunny brightly lit places. From direct rays of the sun it is better to hide the plant, since burns are possible. But even in the shade you can not put a pot, so this will lead to a loss of decorative qualities: the leaves will begin to stretch.
  2. If you suddenly forget to water the plant, nothing terrible will happen. In the warm season it is enough to pour a stone rose only once a week, and in winter you can even moisten the soil only once every two weeks. The plant accumulates in its pulp moisture and nutrients, which makes it possible to manage a long time without water. Always make sure that moisture does not get into the middle of the leaves: this can lead to decay.
  3. Molodilo or a stone rose is absolutely unpretentious to the temperature of the contents. It easily tolerates both low and high temperatures up to 30 ° C heat.
  4. When caring for a flower with a stone rose, you do not have to provide constant humidity. In the heating season, there is no need to spray the plant. It can even hurt if the water gets into the outlet.
  5. For a flowerpot, it is better to select a soil with a high sand content, not nutritious. It is important to ensure good drainage. Completely suitable ready mixtures for cacti and succulents.
  6. It is due to this simple care that a stone rose is very popular among beginner gardeners. If the site is located on sandy soils, where it is not always possible to grow full flowerbeds, succulents feel excellent there.

Stone rose - reproduction

To reproduce a stone rose, as well as to look after it, is not at all difficult. The process is quite fast and does not require your intervention. If there is a need or a desire to accelerate, then a little "help" the plant.

First of all, find a bright sunny place, but with scattered light. In the shade, reproduction will be very slow. All varieties are conditionally divided according to how one can propagate and grow a stone rose: some form a mustache, others can be propagated vegetatively, much less often they resort to the seed method.

The vegetative method is chosen for arranging flowerbeds, alpine hills . You simply plant the mother plant on a sunny place and through time around it there are many small roses. After about three years, you can expect the flowering of a stone rose. The timing of flowering is different and it is difficult to predict them. You will be pleased with the plant for a while, but the notice will die.

Reproduction of a stone rose at home with the help of a mustache is the fastest rooting of the children. Around the mother plant we loosen the ground and very tightly press the baby at the end of the mustache. We watered and in a short time the rosettes will take root.

That is why it is recommended to leave a small gap between the plants when planting the flower beds: the rose itself multiplies perfectly and, in sufficient lighting, does not require any maintenance.
