St. Paul's Church


One of Basel 's many attractions in Switzerland is the St. Paul's Church. It is about it that we will discuss in more detail.

General information about the church

The Church of St. Paul was built in the city of Basel in the very beginning of the 20th century. The authors of the project were the architects Robert Couriel and Carl Moser, who chose the neo-Romanesque style for the decoration of the building, sculptor Karl Burkhardt worked on the relief of the facade of the main entrance, and the mosaic on the walls was made by the artist Heinrich Alterher. The central facade of St. Paul's church in Basel is decorated with a rose-colored stained-glass window, the crown of the church building is the clock tower and statues of the gargoyles. The entrance to the church is decorated with figures of the Archangel Michael fighting with the dragon, and the inscription on the organ reads: "Let every breath praise the Lord."

The construction of the Church of St. Paul in Basel began in 1898 and was completed in 1901.

St. Paul's Church is located near the Basel Zoo . To get there, you can rent a car or use public transport . Just a couple of minutes walk from the temple is the stop Zoo Bachletten, to which you can take the bus number 21 and trams number 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 14, 15 and 16. Anyone can visit the church at any time.
