Have you ever seen a multicolored rose? Real, not artificial? This extraordinary flower petals are painted with all the colors of the rainbow. Therefore, they were called rainbow roses. And invented them one of the owners of the flower company - the Dutchman Peter van de Werken.
At first the florist tried to spray rose petals with various colors. However, this method did not justify itself. In addition, such roses left paint on the hands of man. Then, after successful experiments lasting more than half a year, in 2004 rose roses with multi-colored petals by a unique dyeing technology. And the point here is not at all in genetic engineering, as it was, for example, with a blue rose, and this is not the result of breeding.
The idea of creating an iridescent rose was based on the fact that any flower absorbs water through its stem. Therefore, the experimenters decided during the growth of the flower to introduce special dyes into the capillaries of its stem. Such paint, rising on the stalk, gets to the petals and colors them in different shades. And for the cultivation of varicoloured plants, only white roses are taken. The process of growing rainbow roses is very painstaking, takes a lot of time and effort, but the result exceeds all expectations. Therefore, multi-colored roses - a gift quite expensive: their price is about an order of magnitude higher than conventional colors. Iridescent roses in the home can stand up to five days.
How to grow a multicolored rose with your own hands?

In order to make a multi-colored rose, you need to choose a half-opened white rose, and the variety does not matter. Prepare the vessels for water in advance: these can be small cans, vases and similar containers. Fill them with water and dissolve in each food coloring the color that you want to see in the rose. You can use the paint, which is painted Easter eggs. But, for example, gouache, it is better not to take: this paint is not suitable for such purposes.
Depending on the number of containers with paint, cut the stem of the rose along with a sharp knife along the corresponding number of parts. It is best to do this by immersing the stem in warm water, as air in the stem of the rose can form bubbles that will prevent water from rising to the petals.
Now it is necessary to immerse each part of the stem in a separate container with paint. Gradually, the petals will absorb the paint and their color will change. To speed up the process of coloring and to keep the rose fresh for a longer time, it is possible to add sugar in the water with the paint at the rate of two teaspoons per one liter of water.
The change in the color of the rose petals will begin about a day later. The optimal time for maintaining the stems of a rose in a paint solution is twelve hours. And to get a bright and saturated color of flowers you need to keep the stems in solution for up to three days.
