Pegs for the tent are an integral element necessary for its installation. As a rule, they go in the same package with a tent, but if necessary they can be purchased separately.
Types of pegs
The most common types of devices:
- wooden pegs for a tent - are the simplest option, they can easily be made independently of ordinary sharpened sticks;
- wire pegs made of steel. They are thinner, softer, heavier, and cheaper than other types of products. They have a diameter of about 5 mm;
- wire aluminum pegs for the tent. They differ in their strength compared to steel products. The common drawback of all wire pegs is that they turn, do not stick well in the sand and jump out of the ground in a strong wind;
- V-shaped pegs of a duralumin alloy - they are firmly fixed in the ground, they are difficult to extract. Due to this, they can be used as pegs for a sand tent.
Reinforced tent pegs
Reinforced pegs are used, if necessary, to install a tent on stony ground. Universal V-shaped devices made of duralumin alloy can be too soft and quickly deteriorate when they are often used. The following types of pegs are considered to be particularly strong:
- V-shaped titanium, which are ten- or eighteen-gram;
- pins - they refer to special devices for
stony soil. Pegs have a size of 21.5 mm, in the package 2 pieces. They are recommended to be used as a supplement to the usual set and set at the extreme points of the inner tent. In these places it is necessary to ensure maximum reliability.
As a rule, reinforced pegs have a low weight, which allows them to take on hiking trips of increased complexity in areas where it may be difficult to fix the tent.
Due to its high strength characteristics, pegs can be used for winter tents. They are very hard to fasten on ice, but reliable tools made of quality steel will contribute to their sustainable installation.
Thus, pegs for the tent will help you to secure it in the most inaccessible places. They will serve as a guarantee of a good organization of the trip and will make it possible to simplify the process of installing the tent as much as possible.
