Palacio de Torre Tagle in Lima is a magnificent structure, which was erected in 1735 by the Marquis of Torre Taglia. Currently, the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru is located here, so you can get to the palace only by appointment.
History of the palace
In the distant 1735 for the construction of the family estate undertook the treasurer of the Spanish kingdom of the Marquis de Torre Tagle. The building was built of materials, the place of extraction and processing of which was Spain, Panama and Central America. Directly above the entrance was a carved portico, which was decorated with the family coat of arms of the noble family Torre Talje. June 27, 1918 the palace of Torre Taglia was bought by the Government of Peru for 320,000 salts. Since then, it is at the disposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru. In the fifties of the last century, a large-scale reconstruction of the Torre Talje Palace was conducted, led by architect Andres Boyer.
Sights of the Palace
At the first glimpse of the Torre Taglia Palace in Lima , the characteristic features of the Seville baroque are immediately evident, but the influence of such a vivid architectural style as the Andalusian Mudejar is also felt. The bright facade of the building has an asymmetric but harmonious shape. Stone used for facing the first floor, and plaster for the second floor. The decoration of the facade is two Spanish balconies - Mira. They are majestic, but at the same time elegant designs. This effect was achieved due to the fact that in their decoration used carving on cedar and mahogany. Despite the fact that the Myddors are a traditional decoration of European houses, they harmoniously merged into the architecture of the Peruvian capital.
In addition to its external appeal, the Torre Taglia Palace attracts the interior decoration. It consists of many rooms, including:
- 14 living rooms;
- dining room;
- kitchen;
- a small chapel;
- elegant salon.
Despite the small size of the chapel, it is lavishly decorated with gold patterns. For the decoration of the interior, mirrors and decorative ceiling tiles, laid out in the Spanish-Moorish style, were used. The decoration of the main hall are two portraits, which depict the Marquis of Torre Taglia and his wife.

The Torre Taglia Palace is located in the heart of the Peruvian capital, not far from the Armory Square , where you can also visit Peru's attractions such as Lima Cathedral , Archbishopric and Municipal Palaces and many others. To reach it you can walk along the street Chiron Ukayali or Chiron Asangaro. Despite the fact that the palace is open every day, you can get to it only with an excursion and only by appointment.
