Mojito cocktail

Mojito cocktail is one of the most popular cocktails on five continents. First cooked on the island of Cuba in the distant sixteenth century, this cocktail quickly won an army of fans and its recipe began to spread with great speed around the world. In those days, the strength of the drink was close to 40% - it included local home-brewed tinctures, instead of the usual later rum. It is said that the Mojito cocktail was the favorite drink of the world famous Ernest Hemingway. The American writer used mojito in the morning instead of coffee. To date, there are two types of recipes for preparing a cocktail mojito - with and without alcohol.

The composition of the alcoholic cocktail mojito (its classical version) includes five ingredients: light rum, mint leaves, lime, carbonated water and sugar. Mint and lime, thanks to their strong refreshing taste, make the presence of alcohol in the mojito cocktail almost imperceptible. That is why, the drink has become popular among women, and among men, especially in the summer.

In the composition of a non-alcoholic cocktail mohito rum is absent. Instead of alcohol, water is added to the drink with cane sugar. In many public institutions, rum is replaced with ordinary water. Nevertheless, there is no big difference in the tastes of alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktail version of mojito.
