Mesenteric thrombosis

Thrombosis - a dangerous disease in which the clogged individual vessels. Mesenteric thrombosis is also called intestinal infarction. It happens in the case when the normal flow of blood in the vessels of the mesentery, the so-called sac covering the organs, is disturbed because of the embolus. In fact, a mesenteric thrombosis with a common heart attack or stroke is very common. The main difference is that recognizing this disease is much more difficult.

Causes and symptoms of mesenteric thrombosis

Small thrombi are formed in all vessels, including mesenteric. Because of the plaque, the size of the vessel changes, and accordingly, the blood flow decreases. A small blood clot does not present a particular danger, while an enlarged embolus can cause a rupture of the intestine. This contributes to the entry of all the contents of the intestine into the stomach, which threatens peritonitis - a life-threatening disease.

The main causes of thrombosis of mesenteric vessels are problems with the cardiovascular system. Most people suffer from a heart attack of elderly and middle-aged people.

Even pronounced symptoms of mesenteric thrombosis can easily be confused with many more mild diseases. Because of what the diagnosis of the disease can be delayed. That is why even the most unimportant suspicions can not be neglected. There is a thrombosis in this way:

  1. The most important symptom, inherent in both mild and acute form of mesenteric thrombosis, is abdominal pain. They are often very strong and sharp. Pain usually occurs after eating.
  2. In some patients, the disease is accompanied by vomiting and fever.
  3. Very often with mesenteric thrombosis appears flatulence and bloody diarrhea.
  4. Should be alerted and sudden weight loss.

Diagnosis and treatment of mesenteric vascular thrombosis

Infarction of the intestines very often from the first time even professionals do not recognize. The disease is easily confused with appendicitis , cholecystitis, gynecological problems. The best diagnostic method is angiography. But even this research does not always help. To identify the disease often requires a comprehensive examination.

The treatment consists in dissolving the thrombus, for which special drugs are used. Usually, mesenteric thrombosis is diagnosed too late, as a result of which the patient needs an operation to remove the dead part of the stomach.
