Laguna Blanca

Bolivia - one of the most beautiful and colorful countries in South America. The natural wealth of this region could be envied even by such "titans" as the US and China. To inspect all the sights of this state, it will take not a week and, most likely, not even a month. Today we suggest you go to one of the most amazing places in Bolivia - to the Laguna Blanca lake.

What is interesting about the body of water?

Laguna Blanca is a relatively small salt lake located in the province of Sur Lipes, the department of Potosi . Not far from here, in the Syloli desert , is the entrance to the National Wildlife Sanctuary of the Andes named after Eduardo Avaroa , known for its bizarre rock formations, as well as a unique animal and vegetable world. Another natural attraction that tourists can also see when visiting the lake is the Likankabur volcano , much of which lies in Chile.

As already mentioned, the dimensions of Lake Laguna-Blanca are small: its area is just over 10 square meters. km, the maximum length is 5.6 km, and the width is only 3.5 km. Interesting and the origin of the name of the pond: in Spanish, Laguna Blanca means "white lake". And, indeed, the color of the water is milky white, which is due to the high content of minerals.

The Laguna Blanca is separated from its more famous neighbor, Lake Laguna Verde , a narrow isthmus whose width does not exceed 25 m. This convenient location allows you to see just two places of Bolivia , while spending a minimum of time.

How to get to Laguna Blanca?

Unfortunately, public transport to the lake does not go, so you'll have to get here by taxi, a rented car or as part of the tour group. By the way, you can book a tour right at the airport in one of the travel agencies or at the reception in the hotel, if it provides such a service.
