A kaleidoscope is a wonderful toy! Looking into it, you find yourself in a magical bright world. In addition, unusual symmetry creates a sense of being in the looking-glass. It seems that the device of an object is extremely difficult, but in fact a kaleidoscope is quite easy to make by yourself. In the article we will tell you how to make a kaleidoscope.
Master class for making a kaleidoscope
You will need:
- metal ruler;
- thin acrylic mirror;
- stationery cutter;
- adhesive tape;
- a tube from under a roll of paper towels about 3.5 cm in diameter;
- food plastic container;
- bright colored beads, rhinestones or transparent pebbles;
- texture film;
- universal adhesive.
How to make a kaleidoscope with your own hands?
- For mirrors, we need a piece of mirror acrylic measuring 8 cm x 12 cm. On the short side, dividing the rectangle into 3 equal strips, cut.
- With the help of adhesive tape we connect the mirrors in series, leaving a small gap between them. We put a prism from the mirrors.
- We measure the length of the mirrors (12 cm) on the carton tube and another 2.5 cm. The total length of the tube for the kaleidoscope is 14.5-15 cm. We cut off a part of the tube along the line using a clerical cutter.
- We circle the tube on the texture paper, adding about 2.5 cm in diameter. Cut the resulting circle. In the center of the circle make a hole. We perform incisions in the form of rays to the main circle. We glue the circle on the lateral surface of the tube, fixing the "rays" on the main surface of the tube.
- We circle the tube on the plastic (from the food container), add 1.3 cm in diameter. We make incisions, bend along the notches made. We insert the resulting lens inside the tube, pushing the part down. A similar detail is prepared for the other end of the tuba (we will put it when filling the kaleidoscope with "treasures").
- By the length of the tube we cut off the texture film to fully roll up the tube. We glue the texture film on the surface of the product.
- We put the prism into the tube, pour the pebbles inside.
- We carefully glue the plastic part from the back of the tube. From the side we seal it with a sticky tape (you can use nail polish with sparkles)
- A kaleidoscope is ready!
