Hyperthermic syndrome in a child

Every parent knows that an increase in body temperature during illness is an indicator of the body's struggle with the disease. However, there are situations when the body temperature reaches 39 degrees and above and holds for a long time. In this case, they speak of a hyperthermic syndrome in a child, a phenomenon characterized by an elevated body temperature due to a violation of the mechanisms of thermoregulation and heat exchange.

Hyperthermal Syndrome: classification

This syndrome can be caused by infectious diseases or non-infectious (overwork, stress, allergic reactions).

There are three stages of hyperthermia syndrome:

The smaller the age of the child, the faster it is necessary to provide the first emergency aid, since the consequences of such a high temperature can be extremely severe (intoxication, cerebral edema, metabolic disorders, movement of the motor system, respiratory system).

Hyperthermic syndrome in children: first aid and treatment

Help in hyperthermic syndrome in a child should be provided immediately:

Rubbing alcohol with a child is not recommended, because it is easily absorbed through the skin and poisoning of the body can occur. Also it is forbidden to put mustard plasters and conduct any thermal manipulations. You can not give a small child analgin, aspirin, nayz in order to lower the temperature.

After first aid, the body temperature of the baby should be checked every 20 minutes and immediately called a pediatrician.

At the slightest suspicion that the child has a hyperthermic syndrome, it is necessary to call a resuscitation team to effectively provide medical care.
