Two indispensable attributes of the oil week are, of course, delicious pancakes and a stuffed pancake week. The last in Russia was made to burn at the stake, seeing off the winter and giving way to spring. This ancient Russian custom, which dates back to the time of paganism, in our time again became popular.
Burning stuffed carnival
Many are interested in why they burn incense on Shrovetide. So it was in ancient times when a scarecrow was made from straw and burned as a sign of the annual renewal of nature, and ash and the remaining straw were scattered across the fields. Thus the peasants asked the pagan gods for fertility: it was seen as a symbolic sacrifice. Burning stuffed occurred at the end of the oil week and was accompanied by merry folk festivals.
But the scarecrow does not have to be burned, because it can easily become the highlight of your interior. If you belong to lovers of ethnic style, decorate your house with a stuffed pancake made by yourself!
How to make a scarecrow on Shrovetide with your own hands?
Making a stuffed pancake week is a very simple matter. You will need a minimum of tools and very simple materials. So, let's start the master class!
- Prepare a broom, children's tights and shirt (you can use things that your child has already grown up), sintepon, wire, bright ribbons or rubber bands.
- The first thing to do is to stuff the tights well with a sintepon. Keep in mind, it will not be legs, but the hands of a scarecrow!
- We band them with colored ribbons, forming the elbow fold. You can also make stuffed fists. Choose ribbons, based on the color scheme of the future craft: you can use ribbons in the tone of clothes, or, conversely, contrasting.
- We cut the gusset of pantyhose with sharp scissors, make a small hole.
- We insert a cutting of a broom into it. It is better to fix it with a wire so that the head is well supported on the trunk. As for the head of the stuffed pancake, its role will be played by the top part of the tights - tightly fill it with sintepon, and tie the top with a ribbon or ribbon.
- Do not forget to make Maslenitse a beautiful hairstyle! She will certainly appreciate it, giving way to the fast spring. That part of the tights, which is located above the ribbon, cut into small "hairs" (for this, it is better to initially use tights without elastic bands). If the "hair" of a scarecrow turned out to be long, they can be braided in a pigtail or decorated with a beautiful bow.
- We put on a stuffed shirt and bandaged with a red girdle. It is possible to tie up the same ribbon and collar - Maslenitsa loves everything bright!
