Watering any culture without any regime and "by eye" is a deliberate damage to the planting material. When a plant receives the necessary doses of moisture and systematically, it will reward you with a good harvest and a quality product. And therefore once again touch on the issue of watering onions in the garden, namely how to do it wisely, how often to water.
How often should I pour onions on turnips?
Whatever one may say, he loves onions and will rejoice at every moistening of the soil. During the growing season, you can significantly affect the size of the turnip with the help of competent irrigation. Let's divide this process into the main parts:
- after the landing, this crop very acutely feels a lack of moisture, so that the May-June period of active irrigation (about once a week we can safely use up to 12 liters per square meter);
- you often and actively began to water onions, and by mid-June it had already started to grow, since the roots were fed, now it is necessary to keep the same frequency of moisture entering until mid-July, but reduce it to eight liters;
- in the hottest period of the year from the middle to the end of July it will be necessary to water onions on the turnip really often, as the soil dries up in a matter of days, and it is necessary to make up to six liters every five days without any doubt.
But it is not enough to know how often to water a bow, it is important to do it correctly. In this case, the most important thing is to leave the leaves unscathed. If the bed is small and without the help of a hose you can do without, take a watering can and put a strainer on it. Only this method allows watering, because it will be effective and at the same time gentle for the plant.
Next, we make sure that the moisture percolates about 20 cm of soil. Do it better in the evening and then loosen the soil. Then access to oxygen will be normal and planting will not start to rot. For three weeks, we completely stop all watering. Thus, you will increase the shelf life of the harvested crop, and the turnip will not begin to crack.
In principle, it is enough just to water often and nothing else needs to be done, since onion onion does not need any additional fertilizing. But if the case clearly goes sluggishly, the solution of the mullein and saltpeter will always become your companions.
How often to water a bow on a feather?
If we talk about growing a turnip , then most often it is an open ground or a greenhouse with soil. When it comes to green onions , the concept of "often watering" changes significantly, as often the sawdust is used instead of the soil. But here there is already a noticeable difference in technology and proportions.
Sawdust dries much faster than sand and soil, so here all the standard recommendations for onions are not relevant, as it will often be watered, otherwise. If you pour a square meter with ten liters of water (as we do for the soil), the area will be covered completely, only the moisture will seep only a few millimeters. So wet the sawdust and saturate them with moisture for planting will be more difficult: you'll have to water a few plots at intervals of ten minutes at intervals. How to check the quality of watering: the sawdust should not be dry and crumble in your hand, but they do not swim either.
Now regarding the recommended mode at different temperatures:
- when it's about 18 ° C in a pair with airing, we water three times a month and choose equal intervals;
- when it becomes hot and the temperature rises to 20-25 ° C, once a week we water and do not forget about the more intensive airing of the greenhouse;
- when it becomes even hotter, we boldly increase watering up to two times a week.
With such care your bow will be a bright green color, and the pen itself is dense and juicy.
