How many bubbles will the wallpaper leave?

Wallpaper gluing is a relatively inexpensive way to transform our home. But sometimes the minor troubles that arise at the last stage of the work can spoil our mood. Most often this happens when for some reason on the wallpaper appear bubbles, and we do not know what to do about it. It is best to take all measures to prevent their occurrence and, thus, to avoid the inevitable disappointment.

The most common causes of blisters on wallpaper:

  1. The appearance of blisters becomes inevitable, if during the gluing of a piece of wallpaper it is imperceptibly smoothed. Armed with special rollers, which are sold in the trade network, or a piece of clean cloth, you will easily be able to expel all the air from under the cloth. The correct movements should be directed from its center to the edge.
  2. The reason why there are bubbles on the wallpaper, there are often drafts. Therefore, the door to the house should be kept closed, at least a day.
  3. It is equally important to monitor the temperature and humidity. Dry air in the room can be moistened by placing several cans of water in the room.
  4. Too fast movements during the preparation of glue contribute to the accumulation of air in it. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions printed on the package and refrain from hurrying, which can only harm. Many advise to evenly distribute the glue to apply it simultaneously to the wall and to the prepared piece of wallpaper. At the same time, make sure that there are not too many, but not few. Both result in undesirable consequences. Adhesive should be purchased strictly in accordance with the selected type of wallpaper.
  5. One of the most common causes is improper preparation of the surface of the walls for work. Any unfinished crack or hole prevents the gluing of the wallpaper. The air that accumulates in such places turns into air bubbles.

Types of wallpaper and bloat

There is a huge number of types of wallpaper, and each of them manifests itself differently in relation to the formation of blisters. For example, cheap single-layer paper wallpaper is often bubbly, unlike non-woven paper , which is practically free of this shortcoming. Troubles arise, most often, in violation of the recommendations for gluing, which are attached to each type of product.

If after the work done on the wallpaper bubbles appeared and the question arose, after how long they will leave, it is recommended not to worry about this, but to wait a little. Most swells disappear themselves during the drying and stretching of the cloth. Depending on the material, glue and temperature, this can take from one to three days. To remove bubbles, without waiting for the drying of wallpaper, you can only if you are really sure that you can not avoid this procedure. But before it takes eight hours, it's better not to swoop.

How can I remove bubbles from the wallpaper?

In the case where the glue has not yet dried, pierce the canvas with a needle and smooth it with a roller or cloth, allowing air to escape through the puncture. If the wallpaper is dry, we take the glue in a medical syringe and carefully insert it into the blistering site. We smooth the material, as in the previous case, trying to distribute the glue evenly under the paper. Leaving through the hole liquid is removed with a sponge.

If you have pasted wallpaper, and there are too large bubbles, try to re-paste the canvas or make a cross-cut. Unlike a puncture, any, even a slight incision, can leave a gap that can spoil the appearance of the room.
