- environmentally friendly and breathable;
- are easy to apply;
- affordable.
The weaknesses of such a coating include fragility. If you want to glue paper wallpapers on your own, let's figure out how to do it.
Sticky paper wallpaper with your own hands
1. Issue paper wallpaper of two options: simplex and duplex. The first is a single-layer coating. Wallpaper duplex - two-layer, they are embossed, smooth or foamed. This coating is more durable and less burnt out.
2. You will need: roulette, glue, brush, roller, sharp knife, stepladder. Before starting work, turn off the electricity and remove the covers from all switches and sockets.
3. Before gluing paper wallpaper, you need to carefully prepare the walls. To do this, they must be cleaned of the old coating, plaster all irregularities and prime the entire surface. If the old wallpaper is difficult to remove from the wall, they should be moistened with water and gently scraped off with a spatula.
4. Many novice masters are interested in how to glue glue paper wallpaper. For this coating, glue of any brand is suitable. For example, you can use the brand CMC. Prepare it by following the instructions on the package. In the absence of glue, try to prepare a homemade paste: pour flour into cold water, bring to a boil with frequent stirring, remove from heat and cool.
Most often, paper wallpaper has one or two edges. If your wallpaper is thin, then cut the edge from only one side and glue the canvas overlap. As a rule, thicker paper wallpaper should be glued to butt and therefore the edges are cut off from both sides.
Before you start, you must draw a strictly vertical line on the wall, and start wallpapering the wallpaper better from the window. Cut the wallpaper sheet along the length equal to the height of your wall, adding 2-3 cm from the bottom and from above for the subsequent trimming and alignment.
5. Lubricate the wall with a glue for the width of the wallpaper and apply it evenly on the sheet. Leave the paper for 2-3 minutes to impregnate it with glue. To stick a sheet of wallpaper you need to start from the top down, gradually smoothing it and driving out air bubbles from under the sheet with a dry rag or special roller from the middle of the panel to its edges. Glue, which appears on the upper side of the wallpaper, should be wiped with a damp sponge, as after drying there will be ugly stains.
6. After the wallpaper sheet is pasted, it is necessary to cut off its excess at the baseboard and at the ceiling. It will be better if before the start of the gluing you remove all the plinths, and after gluing the cut off with a sharp knife an extra part of the wallpaper and screw the plinth back into place.
Some secrets of sticking paper wallpapers
Why do paper wallpapers sometimes get unstuck? This question worries many beginning masters: it's a pity, when after so many efforts we see that our work has gone down the drain.
First of all, it should be remembered that the slightest drafts must be eliminated when sticking. And within about 48 hours after the completion of work, all doors and windows in the room should remain closed. This is done so that the pasted wallpaper dries out gradually.
If you have pasted wallpaper on an old coating, on a painted or whitened surface, the wallpaper may become unstuck. Therefore it is very important to thoroughly clean, plaster and primed the walls before starting work. Often, the peeling occurs because the wallpaper did not have time to properly impregnate the glue or the adhesive layer was unevenly applied.
As practice shows, glue embossed and foamed paper wallpaper on the same principle as conventional paper. The only difference is that for such coatings, one should choose the glue intended for gluing heavy wallpaper.
