Golfo de Chiriquí


The pearl of Chiriqui, one of the provinces of Panama , is the national park of Marino Golfo de Chiriqui. It is located off the Pacific coast of Panama and extends along the border of Costa Rica in the west and the peninsula of Asuero. Its area is 147 square meters. m or 14,740 hectares, and he himself is surrounded by 25 islands, 19 coral reefs. The largest island of Panama belongs to the territory of the park. This is a house for monkeys, several species of sea turtles, exotic birds and many other fauna.

From 1919 to 2004 on the site of the park was a correctional colony. It is rumored that it was thanks to her that the area retained its pristine nature, which was not damaged by the developers.

And on the surrounding islands, eco-hotels have recently been erected, among which Playa Santa Catalina is very popular. Most of the hotels are concentrated around Boca Chica and the neighboring island of Boca Brava.
