Mosaic is an excellent material for creativity. With it, you can create a huge number of decorative solutions that will become focal points in interior design, combine or divide space.
A traditional mosaic is a floor mosaic. This technique was developed in the first cobbled paths and courtyards - available natural material was used many years ago to create a covering of tracks and floors. Coverage can represent a work of art with subtle light transitions, and can be very simple in design. Intricate compositions can be made up due to the compact size of the panel and a wide range of colors.
Types of mosaic for the floor
Modern mosaic is considered a synthesis of ancient technologies and spreads the technique of mosaic to different materials, known not only from ancient times, but also innovative. Depending on the material, the following types of mosaic can be distinguished:
- Tiled mosaic . Very popular stuff. It is a small square tiles of glass and porcelain stoneware, set on an elastic grid. Used for smooth surfaces and for parts of irregular shapes.
- Natural stone / smalt . Each element of such a mosaic has its own form, so when laying stones, you need to choose the shape and size. Stone mosaic is used to decorate rooms in the house, as well as for paths and courtyard.
- Granite and marble mosaic . Very expensive but fun, but it looks very smart and luxurious. The so-called "marble carpets" are very popular, when a stone pattern imitates a carpet.
- Plastic mosaic . Is the cheapest coverage of all of the above. It is realized in the form of small tiles, planted on a flexible mesh. It is more often decorated with walls, but sometimes for flooring, making small inserts.
As you can see, floor mosaic has a lot of variations, which greatly facilitates the choice of flooring.
