Flattened hydrangea by Freize Melba

Trying to decorate your household plot, you should pay attention to the novelty of selection - a panic hydrangea by Freis Melba, whose description of the variety is very attractive. It appeared to us recently, in 2014, after ten years of work of the French breeder, who was able to create such unpretentious and surprisingly beautiful plant.

Description of hydrangea panicle Frayz Melba

The hydrangea shrub has a small height - about 2 meters and the same circumference. It is difficult to call it compact, but it does not seem huge on large areas. From the description of the panicle hydrangea by Freis Melba it follows that the bush has upright stiff shoots that do not require a garter, and the plant perfectly retains its shape throughout the growing season.

The leaves of the Freize Melba are dark green, glossy, perfectly in harmony with the bright red petioles. But the most beautiful and amazing that strikes in the plant of this variety is the huge up to 45 cm inflorescence in the form of a cone with an unusual transition of hues.

At the beginning of flowering bud, consisting of many small flowers, has a white color. Gradually it changes to gently pink, and at the end it acquires a wine shade, and the tip of the inflorescence is always lighter than the base, which gives the plant a peculiar charm.

In our latitudes, in order to preserve the variety, a good winter shelter is required for most plants. Freize Melba does not require this, since it has excellent frost resistance.

Another advantage of this hydrangea is the ability to grow it in the shade. This perennial likes such shady places and moist soil. However, without good drainage is indispensable. To hydrangea develop well and flourish abundantly, in early spring it will need pruning shoots.
