Facade stone

Everyone knows that the facade is the face of the building. It is this part of any structure that is responsible for its external appearance and architectural image. Therefore, it is very important to choose the right finish of the facade . Today, for this, there are many different facing materials. But among them a special place is occupied by the facade stone. This material is considered one of the most ancient types of facing facades. There are two main types of facade stone: natural and artificial.

Natural facade stone

Modern man dreams of a quiet and cozy place where you can relax from the bustle of city life. Many owners of country houses want their dwelling to look as close to nature as possible, and therefore, as a facade of a country house, a natural facade stone is chosen. This cladding material can be conditionally divided into two groups. The first is the so-called facade torn stone - untreated wild natural stone, which has uneven edges. The second is a sawn stone or a so-called flagstone - a uniform stone in thickness, shaped like a tile. To extend the life of the sawn stone, it is polished.

There is another kind of natural facade stone - tumbling. The natural stone is partially subjected to special treatment with water and produces a natural material with oval soft forms, without sharp corners.

The natural stone is different in its density. Quartzite, granite, aleurolite, gabbro belong to hard dense rocks. The average hardness and density are dolomite, limestone, sandstone, travertine, marble and some others. The lowest hardness has such porous stones as limestone and gypsum. The walls lined with such materials are recommended to be impregnated with special water repellents, which will protect the stone from the wet environment and help prolong its service life.

These facing facade stones can be successfully used both for decoration of the facade and for decorating the socle of buildings. In this natural facade stone is perfectly combined with other finishing materials: wood, glass, metal, brick and even decorative plaster.

Decorative facade stone

Artificial facade stone is an excellent analog of natural material, simulating the appearance, texture and properties of the latter. At first, such a decorative stone was used only for the lining of the socle, but gradually it was also used as an ornament of the facade.

A decorative artificial stone is made of cement or gypsum, sand, as well as fillers, plasticizers and various color pigments. Thanks to such components, the facade stone is able to withstand various unfavorable weather conditions, including high humidity and temperature fluctuations.

Today, tiles, imitating granite, marble and other types of natural stones, are very popular. This material is environmentally friendly, easy to install, because the tile elements have smooth and smooth edges. Therefore, the process of installing such a tile passes much easier and faster than facing the facade with natural materials. Although, if desired, you can decorate your house and decorative chipped stone, which has uneven edges. There is also a quarry artificial stone imitating wild boulders.

Mounted decorative facade stone on the basis of concrete on cement mortar, and a stone with a gypsum base is attached to the walls using liquid nails. The facade, decorated with stone based on concrete, experts recommend to cover with a special impregnation, which will increase the durability of this cladding.
