A breed of Armant dogs was obtained in Ancient Egypt by crossing between local and European representatives of the Wolf family. Its name is due to the settlement of the same name, where the first brood of this species was seen.
Description of the Egyptian Shepherd
This animal possesses extreme endurance and strength, which is perfectly combined with the compactness and accuracy of the body. Individuals can reach 56 centimeters and a weight of 27 kilograms. Inconsistency has such important differences in the breed as the ears and tail: they can be alternately hanging or standing. Back strong, straight, tight belly. Rigid hair is black, gray, black, with tan markings of white or red. Standards of the Egyptian Shepherd have no official confirmation.
A dog can be taught with equal success the guard service, work as a shepherd or sports and exhibition activities. However, the fact that the native land of the species absolutely does not make efforts to popularize and breed it leads to the fact that the number of individuals is constantly decreasing and the breed is not recognized.

Armant does not need specific nutrition or maintenance. Wool and undercoat should only be periodically combed and washed, which does not take much time. Representatives of this breed are absolutely not intended to be kept in a city apartment, because they need constant motor activity in the bosom of nature. It makes sense to acquire such a pet, if you live in a country house and can equip a spacious aviary with a constant range.
