Many people mistakenly think that the contact grill is for a cafe, not for a home, but that's not the case. In places of public catering, these devices are large in size, weight and are designed to lay simultaneously a large number of products.

Home options are compact devices with a minimum of bells and whistles and low productivity. Such a contact grill is designed for daily use, but if you often have a large company, then professional equipment is also a good option.

How does the contact grill work?

The grill for the house is powered by a 220V network and can be installed in the kitchen, veranda or even a balcony. When frying food, smoke is not emitted, as is the case with cooking on an open fire, which is an undeniable advantage of the contact grill. The heating element is located in the upper and lower part of the device, the power of which varies from 0.7 to 2.2 kW.

With the help of a grill, you can cook different types of meat, vegetables and even pastries - it all depends on the cook's imagination. Very convenient contact grill for cooking shawarma - on it without problems you can fry the meat, and then, warm up and lightly bake the prepared dish, pressing it between the plates.

The contact grill can be folded, which is very convenient if you want to cook a large number of products at once. Due to the existing hinges, the second surface can be lowered almost directly to the products or directly pressed them - it all depends on the desired final result.

How to choose a contact grill?

There are two materials from which the body of the device is made. At inexpensive models the case from plastic that very essentially influences formation of the price of the given electric equipment. More expensive models are made of stainless steel, and this outer coating makes the grill more durable, compared to plastic.

But the frying panels themselves can be cast iron, ceramic, non-stick coating or stainless steel. Cast iron and ceramics are the most expensive, but they will serve faithfully and truthfully for a very long time and food will not stick to them.

The working surface can be corrugated - it gives all known strips on a piece of steak or smooth. From the point of view of practicality, it is easier to work with an even surface, especially to wash it. But to clean the corrugated, you have to work hard.

The best option when choosing a grill will be a combined surface, that is, divided in half into a flat and corrugated. When choosing a device, you should carefully check whether the panels are easily removed for cleaning and whether there is a drain for excess fat.

If the device will be used often for a large company, then it makes sense to purchase a double contact grill. Such a device has two independent working surfaces, on which it is possible to accommodate different dishes, the taste and smell of which it is better not to mix. Such devices can be found in places of public catering, but also there are compact devices.

Well, the last thing to consider when choosing - the ability to adjust the temperature. At cheaper models such function is absent, and it can be lowered only having disconnected the device from a network. In expensive models there is a thermostat that gradually lowers and raises the temperature.
