Marble baths at all times testified to the special prosperity of the owners of the dwelling - for its acquisition, quite a lot of money was required. Baths made of natural marble are cut from a solid stone block, so they are extremely massive. By purchasing such a product, the owners of the house should be sure that the floors in the house will withstand the significant load created by the marble product.
As an alternative to natural stone baths, modern industry offers baths of cast (or cast) marble. Plumbing products made of artificial marble are not less presentable in appearance, but differ in higher consumer characteristics and are quite affordable.
Baths from composite materials
Composite materials are a mixture of polymers and resins, in which natural fillers are added. Currently, two types of composite baths are produced: casting marble and cast onyx ones. Marble products are characterized by a white-beige-gray palette, while onyxes suggest more vivid colors: blue, emerald green, violet, scarlet, etc. Baths made of cast marble are made from a composite, which includes granite crumb, which makes it quite possible to convey the characteristic for natural stone texture and the usual natural coloring.
Benefits of an artificial marble bath
- high strength. Plumbing products made of composite withstand significant mechanical stress. For example, an acrylic bath can suddenly burst with water pressure. With a bath of artificial marble, nothing like this can happen!
- high consumer qualities. In addition to the attractive appearance, the composite product has a number of positive properties: it is pleasant to the touch - it is never cold; the material has a high level of sound absorption - vibrating sounds are eliminated when the bath is filled with tap water or a characteristic noise when taking a shower;
- long service life. Manufacturers guarantee at least 10 years of preserving the quality of the bath of marble chips;
- a bath or sink made of artificial marble can be processed, if necessary, by a file and even drilled;
- Baths made of cast marble are well restored by specialists.
Disadvantages of a bath of artificial marble
- Baths of injection molding material require care. The fact is that the composites are not affected by abrasives, so cleaning of products from artificial marble with abrasive cleaning agents is excluded;
- the composite absorbs dyes; therefore, if water is infused in the bathtub, in which, for example, there is moulting clothing, or a persistent dye enters the foam for the adoption of water procedures, the bath may become dyed;
- despite the high strength, the composite material is unstable to a sharp mechanical impact, therefore, dropping a heavy object into the bath, you can split a piece. But even if such a nuisance happened, do not panic: the restorer will restore your bath.
Choosing a bath
The assortment of baths made of cast marble is quite significant, the offered product differs in shape, color, size and configuration. Often, marble products are equipped with straight or shaped sides and headrests for greater comfort. The dimensions of the bath must match the size of the room. If a long standard bath fits poorly into space, you can buy a product of another shape: round, asymmetric, polyhedral. The perfect solution for a small bathroom room is a corner bath made of cast marble. The two side parts of the product are adjacent to the walls, and the front part does not bulge, so that scarce free space remains.
Choosing a bath of composite material, consider the overall design of the room, then the chosen product will perfectly fit both into the interior, decorated in a luxurious aristocratic style, and in the new-fashioned high-tech bathroom.
