Chronic gastritis - symptoms

Chronic gastritis is a disease that develops for a long time as a consequence of an acute process or as an independent pathology. With this form of the disease, the mucous membrane of the stomach is affected sufficiently deeply and extensively, and at the same time the connective tissue proliferation takes place. Consider what are the main symptoms of different types of chronic gastritis.

Symptoms of chronic gastritis with high acidity

This form of gastritis occurs more often in young people and can be combined with inflammation of the duodenal mucosa. Manifestations in this case are such symptoms:

• aching or blunt stomach pains resembling ulcers that occur on an empty stomach, after a l or two to two hours after a meal, at night (in some cases, pain is absent);
• heartburn;
• belching with air, sour;
• nausea;
• frequent constipation;
• bloating;
• flatulence.

These symptoms often indicate a chronic superficial gastritis, in which the activity of the glands of the stomach persists, and arise against the background of overeating, eating harmful food, drinking alcohol, severe stress and some other provoking factors.

There is also an erosive form of chronic gastritis, the symptoms of which are often not expressed. In this case, single or multiple erosions occur on the surface of the gastric mucosa with a weak inflammatory process. To suspect a pathology, which is often associated with alcohol use or treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, is possible by such signs:

• unstable stools;
• slight pain in the stomach;
• nausea;
• heartburn ;
• vomiting with the appearance of blood veins;
• chair is black.

Symptoms of chronic gastritis with low acidity

In this case, there is a decrease in the secretory and motor functions of the stomach, resulting in mucosal cells atrophy. In turn, pathological processes in the walls of the stomach cause a violation of absorption of vitamins and nutrients. Symptoms of this form of chronic gastritis, also called atrophic, are as follows:

• sensations of heaviness and overcrowding of the stomach;
• belching with a lot of air, rotten;
• bad smell from the mouth;
• bitter taste in the mouth ;
• nausea;
• increased salivation;
• bleeding of blood vessels;
• inflammation of the gums;
• dry skin;
• weight loss.
