The sacred Burmese cat received such recognition thanks to a legend that links origin and its unusual color. During the raid on the temple of Lao-tsun, one of the abbots was killed in prayer. The cat, who was very attached to him before, approached and changed beyond recognition: his eyes shone with a blue color, and his hair was covered with gilding. Muzzle, tail became brown, but the paws that the cat touched before the abbot, dressed in white "stockings", which became a symbol of virtue. Seeing such changes, the rest of the inhabitants of the temple got strength and stood up in battle, and all the cats living in the temple acquired a similar color. This is how the Burmese cat or the sacred Burma laid the foundation for its breed.
